MADE TO MOVE
🧭 Challenge Review
For January we challenged ourselves to watch the sunrise and take 5,000 steps every morning. Or for those with non-morning schedules, within 30 mins of waking up, take 5,000 steps or complete 30 mins of intentional movement.
Why does this matter?
January is the month of new beginnings. It’s where we turn the page to begin a new journey or renew out promises on the journey we’ve been on.
This challenge is about rising to meet the new year with intention followed by the actions to prove those intentions.
This month, we rev our engines.
A chance for a strong start to a beautiful new year.
📋 Challenge Update
This month has been more challenging than I expected. The post-holiday slump hit hard. I felt sluggish, unmotivated, and a step behind my usual rhythm.
Getting my sleep schedule to line up with the sunrise didn’t go as planned. Too many late nights over the holidays caught up to me, and for the first two weeks of this challenge, waking up with the sun just wasn’t happening. On the bright side, hitting my 5,000 steps each day has been much more consistent.
But this challenge is a two-part commitment and my focus was split. Between organizing goals for the year, work, family, and training, sleep quietly slipped to the bottom of the list. That’s when it clicked: I can’t win this challenge without protecting my sleep first.
So I made it non-negotiable. Hard cutoffs. Real alarms. Fewer excuses.
The rough start didn’t derail me, it recalibrated me. I’m waking up earlier now, finding my rhythm again, and the January challenge is officially back on track.
💪 Challenge Reminders
Protect your sleep if you want to protect your mornings.
Treat your alarm like an appointment.
Keep trying, improving, and striving for the goal. You might be struggling like I was but you can always get back on track.
Until next time,
